The university, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and other faculties offer various events to give you more insight into teaching and research.
If you would like personal student counselling, you are welcome to contact the THWS student advisors or the student advisors of the individual degree programmes and faculties.
Our academic advisor Prof. Dr. Stefanie Retka (page currently available in German only) will answer your individual questions about our degree programmes.
Student Information Days
The Student Information Days take place in mid-March each year and are aimed at anyone who would like to find out more about studying at the THWS. The German and English-language degree programmes are presented in talks. There is also the opportunity to gain a personal impression of the university buildings and our laboratories through guided tours of the campuses in Würzburg and Schweinfurt.
Taster sessions
The taster sessions takes place during the annual Whitsun holidays. The event is primarily aimed at pupils from the final year of secondary school. The taster course offers them the opportunity to take part in selected lectures covering a wide range of topics from the THWS degree programmes.
University Information Days (HIT)
The University Information Days (HIT) take place once a year in cooperation with the careers counselling service of the Federal Employment Agency in Würzburg. Prospective students can find out about a wide range of degree programmes at THWS and other universities in talks and at information stands.
Since the coronavirus pandemic, the event has been offered digitally as well as in person at the University of Würzburg in response to popular demand.
More event information is provided by the Federal Employment Agency on the HIT website (German language only).
Taster days (for girls)
Every autumn holiday week, the THWS organises the taster days together with companies based in the region, which are aimed at schoolgirls in years 8 to 12. Workshops, lectures and forums give them a practical insight into the scientific and technical world of work and university life.
Further information about the taster days and how to register can be found on the taster days website (german language only).
