Information for exchange students

Welcome to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg - Schweinfurt!

Our faculty is located in Schweinfurt, Germany. The Faculties of Electrical Engineering and Business and Engineering are located here, also. Together, we offer Bachelor degree programmes in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, robotics and hydrogen technology as well as in business and engineering and in logistics. Currently, about 3,000 students are enrolled in these programmes.

The city of Schweinfurt has a long industrial history of mechanical engineering. Companies like FAG/Schaeffler Group, SKF (both known for bearings) and ZF (car components), but also companies like Fresenius Medical Care, Bosch Rexroth (linear drives) or Winora (bikes) are located here. Schweinfurt is situated close to the river Main in Unterfranken, a region that is ideal for biking, hiking, tasting hearty local food or discovering some of the many local beers. The Unesco World Heritage city of Bamberg and our partner city Würzburg can be reached by train within 30 minutes.

If you consider studying Mechanical Engineering (BM) at our faculty, please note that all our courses are taught in German. Therefore, your knowledge of the German language should be sufficient to follow courses taught in German, participate in exercises and student projects and also to take exams in German.

With the beginning of the winter semester 2025 we will start a Bachelor Mechanical Engineering degree programme in English (BMEE). Already now, we offer lots of courses in English for our partner faculties and for our joint international degree programmes like Bachelor Robotics (IRO) and Bachelor Mechatronics (IMC). You are free to choose your courses from any of those programmes.

Please also note that we do not offer any internships at our faculty, neither can we organize internships at companies for you.
