Laboratory for Automotive Engineering

Location

This graphic shows the location of the Automotive Engineering Laboratory of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The quickest way to reach it is via the south entrance near the CAD laboratory or via the south-west entrance. Depending on which of the two entrances you use, you can reach the laboratory via the third steel door from the left or the seventh steel door from the right in the main corridor of the building.

The laboratory

Many different tasks can be carried out in the automotive engineering laboratory.

The equipment available includes:

  • Lifting platform
  • Vehicle pit
  • Clamping plates for the fixation of measuring objects
  • Technical measurement equipment, like acceleration measurement sensors for
    • static deformation measurements
    • dynamic and acoustic examinations
    • strength analysis

In the summer and winter semesters, experiments from the module General Mechanical Engineering Lab take place in the automotive engineering laboratory, e. g. disassembly and assembly of a vehicle gearbox, performance measurement on a car or vibration testing on a vehicle body.
